Can Your Uniforms Have a Second Life? We put this idea to the test! Together with the iconic Waverley Mills, Australia’s oldest working spinning and textile mill, Australian Defence Apparel (ADA) has transformed textile waste from wildland uniforms into the REmarkable RSPNDR RE Blanket, driven by ADA’s PACT to support our PLANET.
Textile waste from wildland fire uniforms are now REdirected from landfills, REpurposed and crafted through four innovative milling processes, all completed at Waverley Mills in Tasmania. In the first step, waste textiles are fiberised, followed by blending and spinning. After weaving, it is finished and REpurposed as a REcycled, durable blanket.
For every 20 blankets manufactured, 6Kgs of waste textiles can be diverted from landfill. Notice the distinct bright orange fibres carried over from the wildland fire uniforms. This isn’t just a blanket – it’s a testament to innovation and sustainability.
When you choose a RSPNDR Re Blanket, you’re not only investing in a piece of innovative Australian craftsmanship, but also contributing to the reduction of textile waste to create a safer, better world. Every thread counts.
Let’s Make a PACT!
Promoting Accountability, Community, and Transparency. The RSPNDR RE Blanket is REdirected from landfill, REpurposed, and REmarkably Soft. Join us in making a PACT for a better planet.
