Our rigorous testing processes are not just in-house procedures. We have taken the extra step of ensuring that our products are not only practically tested and quality assured, but that they are academically resourced and assessed at a tertiary level. We work in close consultation with the world-renowned Tactical Research Unit, operating out of Bond University in Queensland.
By working directly with leading academics we can get third-party personnel, that lack inherent bias, to obtain valuable data that helps to support and validate our designs. This academic rigor doesn’t just support in production designs, but also goes on to inform the development of new technology and uniforms.

We at ADA know that we can’t have all the answers. As we strive to develop steps forward in practical uniform solutions it’s essential that we work with experts in the field both in-house and as third party collaborators.
We have developed a solid history with Bond University’s Tactical Research Unit, allowing collaboration with top-tier academics to give new insights.

Employing the TRIDENT approach, we foster a collaborative approach between Industry, Academia, and the End-User. Understanding the fit, form and functionality of our uniform systems is essential.
We can service multiple industries as we comprehensively comprehend how these systems function from various perspectives.

ADA understands the importance of seeking independent, and ethically-proven, academic reviews for our products. Through this process, we learn how products perform within the intended contextual application and associated environments.
Testing and evaluation activities provide us with data we can use to fuel the development and improvement of new materials and construction methods.

The ultimate test for safety, security and comfort are the men and woman that wear our work. That’s why we take our products into the real world and test them with the people that know.
Bond University Tactical Research Unit (TRU) and ADA have been in partnership since 2007. Bond University TRU’s primary mission has always been to improve the well-being and occupational performance of tactical personnel in Defence, law enforcement, and first responders.
Since 2007, we have been fortunate to have collaborated on projects bringing academia, industry, and end-users together. With ADA members on the External Advisory Board of TRU, we have streamlined information from front-line individuals and improved the user experience and performance of tactical equipment.
Through TRU’s network of multidisciplinary, international experts, we have proudly completed projects, including the ergonomic Assault backpacks range for the Military and the new Integrated Load Bearing Vest for Queensland Police. This partnership has enabled us to fully understand the implications of form, fit and function when providing uniforms and protective equipment for specific roles. It is imperative that the wearer is protected, but also comfortable and responsive, at all times.
Bond University aims to enhance the performance of front-line individuals, so we are equally excited and proud to continue this incredible partnership.
Spearheading the academic rigor that our uniforms are tested against is Dr. Rob Orr. Since joining the Australian Army in 1989 Dr. Orr served 10 years in the Australian Defence Force Physical Training stream before transitioning into the role of Human Performance Offer, a role he continues to serve in today as part of the Army Reserve.
Dr. Orr collaborates with us at ADA via his position as director of the Tactical Research Unit at Bond University. From there he leads an international team of researchers focused on academic advancements in the service of tactical professions worldwide. Research from Dr. Orr’s work at Bond University has benefited professionals across a variety of tactical industries, including Defence forces, firefighters, law enforcement and first responders.
Dr. Orr’s expertise in injury prevention, rehabilitation and optimised functionality makes his input on functional uniform advancements invaluable to our research and development team at ADA.
